- Not all people are indicated to take in diet pills. If you are not qualified to take in diet pills but still want to lose weight, then there are other options for you such as going to the gym and exercise. Eating fruits and vegetables will also help you a lot.
- But if you are a person who has a body mass index or BMI of greater than 30, then you are qualified for a diet pill. But if you have obesity related conditions like diabetes or hypertension, then having a BMI of only 27 will prescribe you on taking in diet pills. But always remember to consult your doctor first before taking in these drugs.
- Most if not all diet pills are only prescribed to be used for a short period of time. One should use it for only a couple of weeks or months depending on the doctor’s prescription. Some even stop using it when the effects are already apparent.
Types of Diet Pills
These diet pills come in two major forms based on their function on the body. The first time is the appetite suppressant.
What they do is they decrease a person’s appetite by increasing the levels of the hormone serotonin in the body. This will signal your brain that you are already full and will no longer be tempted to eat a lot during the day.
The second type is the fat absorption inhibitor. Naturally our body would absorb all the nutrients from the food that we eat and convert it to energy including fat.
Some diet pills block fat absorption in order to decrease the amount of fat cells in your body to make your body look more slim.
You can choose which among the two types that you want to choose but there are also diet pills that offer both effects.
